Could it be the 70's again?

Last week I was at QuiltCon;  think Comic-Con, but for textile junkies.  Times have changed, and patchwork and quilted clothing is IN again!

The man of the moment above was just so cheery; the log cabin jacket kinda neutralizes the skeleton T-shirt.

Some of the outfits were vendor-driven, like the dress on the right, which is actually made of printed "cheater" patchwork, sold by a major quilting fabric purveyor:

and some of the outfits were vendor-worn, like this on the sweetie owner of Bessie Pearl Binding Company, a Raleigh-area company.
These overalls were pure 70's except for the exceptional machine-quilting that the lady had done on the back:

I had a long and interesting conversation with Jenny Hynes, who sells quilted item on Etsy.  She made this jacket - and several other items - out of a vintage quilt top:

This lady did a splendid job of combining fabric in her jacket.  She said that sequential numbering on her cuffs was a happy but totally-unexpected outcome.

Here a couple of artists that I didn't get to talk with:

including a knitter, rather than a quilter:

Lastly, this lady wasn't wearing quilted clothing, but I could tell she felt artistry in her bones:

Thank you for sharing this blog.

I love the jackets! The cheater fabric reminds me of a quilt that a friend gave me that is a printed quilt design.

All of the photos are great!

Haha, I didn’t even notice them as specs, Ingrid!
