TWO TANDEMS AND AN OLD PAPER PATTERN     (Mark)

Yesterday Cheri asked me what day would be good to go to Madison, NC.  I said today would be great.  We are, after all, retired.

She wanted to visit a quilting store and to pick up some things from the Country Store.

The store has a number of things for sale, its bakery and café smells wonderful, and it has a museum upstairs.  Hard to beat!

Above the items for sale in the store are a number of historical items.  I believe they did not have anywhere near enough room in the museum for everything, so it makes for good decorations in the store.

Cheri is making me a shirt as I write this.  I do not believe she is using this pattern though:

This one is exactly the same age I am; no wonder it looks a little worn around the edges.

Not one, but two, tandem bicycles suspended from the ceiling:

You know you are in North Carolina when you see the Cheerwine soft drink signs.  This one is a reproduction sign you could buy for your kitchen:

and this, a slightly older 7-Up sign.
A few scenes from the upstairs museum:

To fully cover the museum would take a separate post.

Cheri asked for "peanuts" from the General Store.

She must cringe whenever she sends me in to get something I like from a store.

But the peanuts canned by the United Methodist Men’s Club before Christmas each year have to be eaten to be understood, and now we have enough to last for a bit.

If you are in North Carolina you need to find these and try them out.

I enjoyed seeing this blog. The museum is interesting.

I would like to try the peanuts.

The peanuts are hard to put down once you get started. The story about the men canning the peanuts was a long form story in the Our State Magazine here in NC.

Mark and Cheri, every bit of this retirement adventure brings happiness! Delicious treats, too, and very special new shirts! This one appears to be for the Winter ahead…
Peanuts do look just right!
Have a cozy Christmas!
