I talked the other day about the 883 pieces of local art exhibited at the de Young Museum, now until January 7. As I also mentioned: "You will notice numbers below each piece of artwork. Almost all of the work is for sale. You can enter the numbers in at this page to learn more about the artists and their motivations, the prices, and find their contact information." That is, unless the blog photographer - me - misses or cuts off the piece number (above)! These are just a few pictures that celebrated the City. We're pretty sure that this a section of the former San Francisco Presidio: A couple of affectionate Chinatown paintings: I really liked the technique that this artist used, but really couldn't tell much about its subject matter until I expanded my photograph later on: Mostly about how products have been marketed to women. Here is another piece that is only understood when you look up the number online (or use the app that I couldn't download inside the Museum): Here is the northwestern portion of the City: Here is an eastern portion of the City, including the Mission District: The dots represent unhoused persons. This was a really ingenious approach to documenting events in the development of women's rights: Here are some random excerpts from the points in the "tree rings": If you really want to see the detail of the historical events well, you can either hold your Control button down while scrolling up on your mouse, or save and expand the pictures.
