A little ways away from Winston-Salem, and not far from Pilot Rock, is the remnants of a little town. Rockford is a town with history back to 1790. At one time it was the county seat for Surry County. It sits near the Southern Railway Line, next to the Yadkin River. Up the hill from the railroad tracks and river sits the Rockford General Store. It is open every day, except for the days it is closed. Unfortunately it was closed when we meandered through. Inside the store you can see uneven wood floors, lots of candy in glass jars, old pictures of the town and historical artifacts. On the outside of the store you can see the old style advertisements, for a plethora of merchandise. Traditional Southern favorite: If you actually drank a Coke every time you saw a sign for one you would float away. This would be Cheri’s favorite. If you took this and mixed it with any of the above you could make yourself a float or fizz. A local branded coffee to keep you perked up. And if you asked Cheri she might tell you I am full of it.

Enjoyed your photos. Too bad the store was closed. Curious about what the inside had.

I believe you, Mark, but I certainly would believe Cheri, too!
