RIVER RUN INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL     (Cheri)

I have always wanted to attend a film festival, but have never had the time.  I think there have been festivals in the Monterey/Carmel area, but even that was tough to manage.  What a thrill to discover that there is a full-fledged annual festival here in Winston-Salem, running from April 21 through May 1!

I'm thinking that I should have applied to be a juror in exchange for poring through the program.  Wow . . . there are about 45 films, not counting short films, animated films,

panel presentations, presentations in the schools, etc.  It looks like about a quarter of them are based internationally.

Some days have as many as 13 showings, not counting virtual showings.  I have signed up for 10 films and have another four that I might see.

Mark is reserving his right to get enthused, but has agreed to see three or four with me.  (I'm seeing about half of the films here at home, and on the road while we are doing some things in Greenville, South Carolina, so may talk him into seeing more than that.)

I'll report on at least some of the films, once the Festival starts.  If you would like to see any of the 52 films that can be viewed virtually, just click here.

I am glad that you are able to see a film festival! I hope that Mark will join you for more. Please tell me if you see "Drive My Car." It won best foreign film at the Oscars.

Have you seen that movie, Marian? It would have been at film festivals two years ago, as that is the process for getting distributors. It's on Amazon Prime, so I've added it to my watch list.

I’ve been to several film festivals and have even been a volunteer at one. I always wanted to go to the one in Sundance when we lived in Nevada, but alas, time did not permit when I was working.

I hope you enjoy it!

I didn't know that, Judy! I looked into going to the one in the Lake Tahoe one year; don't remember what ever came of that but it obviously didn't happen.

Maybe that's what you could do for your new home base . . . start the Linden International Film Festival. Get someone to do movies on T-Bone Walker and Don Henley to start with a bang!
