Almost all quilt designs are geometric in some fashion, but some are much more about geometry than anything else. This batch of quilts from QuiltCon 2023 fits that description.   It was only when I moved to read the artist's statement for this quilt below that I realized that it had been made by the President of my California quilt guild, Linda Branting! (Also that it had been inspired by a class that I signed up for . . . but ended up not taking. Another time?)   I think this quilt is just stunning, visually and technically!   Mark's immediate comment on seeing this quilt was that it reminded him of Pink Floyd's album Prism. The rays of light are all lines of thread. I think the artist seriously undervalued the quilt at $1,000.   My thought on seeing this next quilt? "Happy colors!" Reading the artist's statement, I see that she achieved her goal.   This next artist has created patterns for a number of her similar quilts. A friend of mine made a similar but simpler version, and I'm sure that I bought a pattern for it, but where is it???

How stunning! I've never quilted, but these geometric patterns may reel me in! I forward you quilt reports to Monterey friends in my old Skyline Crest neighborhood and they love them. I have no idea if they've subscribed to your Report, but hope they have.
