QuiltCon 2024     (Cheri)

I went to QuiltCon last week.

I realized that I had failed to adequately describe QuiltCon to Mark when he asked "How many of the quilts were 'modern'?"  That's actually the point of QuiltCon . . . all "modern" quilts.

I loved the quilt above.

Most readers won't understand the distinction, but it's worth pointing out that the entire quilt was pieced, rather than appliqued.  I can only aim for that excellence.

I decided to do something with the blog posts from QuiltCon, mixing genres and experience pictures.  Here is a quick picture of a fun bit of the exterior of the Raleigh Convention Center, where the conference was held:

The attendees were a lot different than you see at most quilt shows and conferences.  Particularly on Saturday, I saw lots of kids in the 10-22 years old range, and quite a few boys.

These vendors mixed old and new in their outfits:

I really loved that you see two ends of the conference-attending spectrum here . . . what you probably expect on the left, and another someone on the right:

I didn't even realize until I was editing pictures, but the jacket on the younger woman has a great saying.  I'm sure I would like her!

So a warning here.  I'm closing today's post with two political quilts.  The first probably won't make anyone sad or angry.  The second, made by a really nice lady from San Francisco, may do just that.

I just automatically gasped after reading the words and viewing the quilt!

On a happier note, just loved the quilted jackets- hope that was on Saturday as the convention center was much cooler Saturday than it was on Thursday!

Paula, the girls were in the jackets first thing in the morning morning, probably on Friday.

Thank you for sharing this blog. I liked the one of the bullet holes. I hope that it goes viral.

Me too, Marian. My feeling is that we should focus on what causes the most harm, without usefulness outside of war.
