I've realized that I usually lead with a group of pictorial quilts when I've been at a big show. Two reasons: they are pretty much my favorite, and likely the favorite of readers who aren't quilt addicts. Here is a detail picture: Mark grew up with daily views of Mount Lassen: When I started visiting him and his family, I paid no attention to it. I guess I was mainly gazing at the wonder that was a young Mark Young: Okay, I was young when we started dating, but he wasn't this young; I just don't have any pictures from that era on my computer. It wasn't until Mark's mother was in her last weeks, and I was driving each day in the cold and snow, from his home to where she was in the hospital or rehabilitation, that I realized just how beautiful Mount Lassen really is. Mark loves photographing Bodie, CA, and it is a favorite subject for California quilters: I don't generally feature quilts in which thread and fabric are applied to digitally-printed photographs, but I could not resist this one: The artist's statement and a detail: This quilt, featuring San Francisco's Palace of Fine Arts, is just stunning: Is there any wonder that I want to get to the point that I can spend massive chunks of my waking hours quilting?
Finally, a quilt that uses nontraditional fabric, so effectively:

Cheri, I know absolutely nothing about quilting and am totally blown away and in awe over what these artists have accomplished.
