PARTYING WITH THE PAST     (Cheri)

If you showed up for a party and this guy was near the front door, you'd be pretty sure to have a good time!

Since we are in the Greenville/Spartanburg area of South Carolina for a few days, we could not miss out on another visit to The Vintage Market of Greenville.

My favorite antique stores are the ones that lean heavily towards architectural salvage.  I can't take it all home, but I can dream!

These two blue doors caught my eye right away:

The second door intrigued me.  The color and the cutouts - not to mention the size - definitely say residential, but the signs tell me it had another life, too.

I'm a nostalgic sucker for old advertisements, like this beautiful chewing gum sign:

I'm sure some of you remember Bazooka bubble gum, but soda pop?

Another product I'd never seen, Polly Gas:

Whoever thought of putting advertisements for Rainbo Bread on screen doors was a genius.

Imagine walking into your down-the-street grocery on a hot day, opening the door and thinking how happy a loaf of Rainbo would make your kids!

I loved the colors on this postcard from the State capitol:

I didn't realize until I was writing this that I had captured a series of railroad items:

One of my best friends in grade school lived on a dairy farm.  When I went to our house I helped feed the calves, but we didn't have a "Calf-Teria:"

Living on a dairy requires rising early:

After buying eight different varieties of the fantastic root beers that the store stocks, we headed home with this:

I was fascinated by the fact that you can look in the windows and see a stairway:

and the framed walls:

At first I thought it might be a sample of a proposed civic building, but the shop owner said that it had come from Amish country, so perhaps something related to this, which was the same size?

The strange this, there is no way for dolls to move around inside.

Anyway, last picture coming up.  Mark and I haven't used our tandem bicycle in quite a while, but at least it doesn't look this:

I enjoyed seeing all of the photos. The model houses are great.

Thank you.
