NORTH OF ASHEVILLE, NC     (Mark)

Normally I end a post with an ice cream shop we liked, but today I need to make sure if you are in the Asheville area you make the 22 minute drive up to Mars Hill.

The Meadowsweet Creamery is exceptional.  Nothing canned or artificial is used, everything done on site, with high quality ingredients.  And Mars Hill has a very picturesque university to wander around on and burn some calories after you have a scoop, or two.

We pulled our trailer up to a fantastic campground just above Asheville in the little town of  Woodfin.

Campfire Lodgings has sites for tents and RV’s.  They also have some cabins and yurts available to rent.  The campground is in the trees, lots of room between sites, quiet, and it has views.

This is an amazing spot to watch a sunset.  There are some chairs and benches set up so you can sit and watch the way the light fades over the French Broad River.
A few miles up the road from Woodfin is the town of Weaverville.  The town reminded me of driving through the California town of the same name on Highway 299.  We went through it often on the way to see my grandparents and cousins.

I like how the old bicycle was used as decoration on the top of the railing.

While Cheri visited a quilt store I wandered around.  Sent this pic to Cheri.
When she was finished at the quilt store we went to the library and browsed the used books they had for sale.  (Yes a few came home with us.)  We then had a very tasty pizza and wandered a bit more.

We got the chance to visit with our friends Paula and Mike at the tiny house they have in the hills near Asheville.  I have always loved mileage signs like the one they have near the driveway.

The tiny house is a wonderful peaceful place surrounded by the trees and mountains.

This one I took for my buddy Ross in Texas.  We  saw these guys as we wandered around Asheville.

Cheri will be doing a post on our wandering in the downtown area.

Thank you for sharing this blog. I love the wooded campground and the sunset.

The pigs are an unusual thing for a sculpture. Why?

Ice cream! Sounds wonderful.

Love, 💗 💕 ❤️

Hi Marian, I believe I saw a sign that said that the spot, or area, was a market crossroads “back in the day.”

Looking at your trailer, that’s not camping, but glamping!
What fun!!
