"Modernism" has really taken over a segment of quilting; in fact there is an annual national show of "modern" quilts, which will be in Raleigh next year. These are a series of mid-century modern inspired quilts from the always-inspirational Pacific International Quilt Festival, which I attended earlier this month. Below is the artist's statement for the quilt above. The Monterey Peninsula Quilt Guild, which I still belong to, in not a "modern" quilt guild - more about those later - but we were so proud that one of our members won the first and second awards in this category: The colors in the second quilt are stunning, and their use so appropriate when you read about their motivation. This one has a lot of energy, and had to have required much time, both in the planning and the execution: I was telling a guild friend today that it was a gift of the pandemic that so many out-of-town guilds are now available to us. This is how I can still belong to MPQG.
I'm thinking of joining the Silicon Valley chapter of the Modern Quilt Guild. (Of course they are easily available online!) Here is an entire quilt, and a snippet of another, that they had displayed at PIQF:

Thank you for sharing these fabulous quilts. I looked at them repeatedly and read the captions.
