LIBERTY ANTIQUES FESTIVAL, 2024     (Cheri)

I felt like I was in Moss Landing, CA today, though you could be forgiven if you thought it was France:

This bench was one of the loveliest antiques that I saw at the Liberty Antiques Festival.

The day started out very foggy, so I thought of the Moss Landing Antiques Fair.  Of course, when I warmed up, it was much more steamy here in North Carolina than it would have been in California!

I saw a wonderful child's kitchen:

I particularly liked the very well-preserved product images applied to the inside of the refrigerator door:

At one point early in the morning, I heard a woman seriously haggling with a vendor about the price for multiple items, and then about whether she had to leave money until she came to pick the items up.

"It's a nonrefundable deposit.  That's how it works."  he said.

"I'm your mother!" she said.

My mother gave me graham crackers and milk when I was a kid.  I liked this stationery letterhead that I found:

I really liked this canvas scrapbook that I found:

Around noon I heard someone ask a vendor a row over whether the items a few yards away from him were his.

"No.  They set up their booth last night, and I haven't seen them since."

There was great music to be heard everywhere:  big-band jazz, blues, a little disco.  I texted Mark an audio clip of some funk, which oddly enough, neither of us can find on our phones.

(I realized the other day that I like blues music, but I like funk even better.  Problem is, you never hear of any community funk concerts!)

At the last booth I bought from, the vendor told me that she bought this next item when she hadn't been wearing her glasses.  She thought it said something like "Good morning."

When she got home and put her glasses on, she was like "What the . . .  Gina and Greg?!?"

We think Grandma made them something that they didn't value as much as she did.  I hope that Grandma is now long gone, and unaware.

When I headed out, I asked where I needed to go to get back in with my car to pick up a couple of my bulkier purchases.

"Lower gate down yonder" was the attendant's entire response.

That didn't really help me much, but following others got me where I wanted to go.

I may post pictures of some of my purchases when I go through the bags of small items.  I'll be creating a shadowbox with one purchase to hang on the door of my sewing room.

I lucked onto this collaged portion of a mannequin just before two other ladies swooped it up.

I'll be putting it in my sewing room.  There are a couple of holes in the surface, but I have plenty of these materials to patch it:

Mark was surprised when I walked in the door at the end of the day with a pair of legs slung over my shoulder!

I laughed about Mark being surprised about you carrying legs.

I remember patterns. I still have a few.

How tall are the legs?

Glad you found the pick up spot.

Hey Marian, I think the legs are about 4 feet tall.

Ladies shapely legs are a divine creation, in my opion, anyway.
