Greenville, South Carolina is a happening, growing place. There's a reason the motto is "Yeah, That Greenville" . . . there are at least seven communities in North and South Carolina that start with "Green." We had considered this as a place to live, but the vintage homes have - just in the last year - exceeded the price that we want to pay, and the traffic is substantial. Nevertheless, it is a cool place to spend time, and this is our second trip here since we landed on the East Coast last fall. We've got a number of posts up or coming based on this trip, but today I'm just doing a shortie about downtown. A couple of condo buildings that overlook Main Street, new and old: I am coveting the balconies on the first building. They have one most classy independent bookstore buildings around: This chair is in the lobby: The decoupaged frame is what caught my eye. There are also several other independent bookstores that I will definitely search out next time we are in the area.
Finally, no pictures, but two recommendations. If you find yourself here and like to cook, you absolutely must spend time at The Cook's Station, the finest cooking store I have ever shopped. And, at first I thought this was just an East Coast thing, or a college-town thing, but find your nearest Insomnia Cookies . . . incredible, and open until 3 a.m.!

I like the balcony as well. That chair is interesting.
