Not yet realizing that we had found Elmo, Virginia, while looking for Waldo, we got out and started wandering around. It is hard to tell just how much use the General Store gets anymore - it's pretty empty inside - but it definitely does have clientele. One ashtray by a chair had a fairly fresh cigar stub in it: This matches the description on its Facebook page, which describes it as "a place for friends to gather, tell tales, smoke cigars and drink adult beverages." Someone seems to maintain the page as a spot for locals to connect. The decoration might be thought of as eclectic. This traffic light sits at the edge of the woods; maybe the cattle use it when merging from the field to the tree line. Cheri has a love for Little Free Libraries. This one was well decorated, at the expense of being functional. There was no way to open it to put in, or take out, any books: Other than the Facebook page, I could not find much history about the Elmo General Store. If you do please let me know. I do know the chairs are well used, cigars are smoked, and some libations are consumed. There is no rust on the business end of this tool: Maybe the only use the bottle opener gets is opening the bottles from this cooler? Probably not; these were probably consumed on the premises: As always:

Reminds me of where I grew up. No longer on most maps.

I'd be curious to know where, Don!
