For a while, Mark and I would take bets on whether houses we saw as we drove past were currently occupied.

Sitting in our travel trailer in Paducah, Kentucky last week, I realized that the area of Missouri that my grandmother grew up in was little more than an hour away. A new destination to explore!  My absolute favorite stop here was the Laurel Mercantile Scent Library. This map was behind the cash register. We all remember the Astoria Settlement (Oregon) and the Florida Treaty . . . don’t we?  When we were preparing to move, I ran across a Christmas letter that I wrote in the early 1990's. Being a little lazy, I'm posting some excerpts here.  Image credit: Getty Images/Flickr RF
I will probably have more posts with similar titles over time; I see so many interesting scenes driving around the North Carolina roads here in the Winston-Salem area. This photo is the on ramp to the Highway 52. Since a number of the freeways have flowers planted in the land between the on-ramp and the actual freeway, the amount of color is amazing.  Spring has truly sprung in Pfafftown, North Carolina! Today was a sunny 74 degrees with a gentle breeze. All sorts of birds have been serenading us all day long, a truly fine day. The daffodils sprinkled throughout the fence line and around the trees are making an appearance.  |
