I had a great time at this year's Asheville Quilt Guild annual show, with friend Paula Jones.
A couple of weeks ago I took my favorite form of transport from our timeshare near Union Square to the Palace of the Legion of Honor, at the west end of San Francisco.
I wrote about going to the de Young Museum a few days ago. After seeing the art, we started walking up towards the Panhandle of Golden Gate Park, soaking in the glorious breeze and bright sun!
While in San Francisco for a too-short stay we were able to visit one of our favorite places in the City, The Box SF.
Mark and I had half a day to kill in San Francisco over the weekend, so we decided to go to the de Young Museum.
Last week Mark and I went to Virginia with our friends Mike and Paula Jones, to see the Road 2 Virginia regional quilt show, and visit Artistic Artifacts in Arlington, VA. "Himalayan Poppies II," by Nelda McComb
Last month we went to Nashville, Tennessee, and choose to stay in town rather than take our trailer.
First - I don't know when - I saw this massive old warehouse from Interstate Interstate 40, driving through Nashville.
The Forney Museum of Transportation in Denver, Colorado has an amazing collection of more than 800 vehicles: outstanding examples of how we can move from one place to another.
Last spring I went to a talk in Virginia, presented by Salem Stitches, about British samplers created by young women who documented their family trees.
If you look closely you might notice this plane is up on concrete blocks, no runway is available, and it is surrounded by a parking lot and buildings.
I have wanted to try the train trip on the Zephyr for quite awhile, and have the chance to see the Sierra Nevada, and the Rockies, from a different vantage point.
Last week I posted about a striking international watercolor exhibit that I attended, just across the border into rural Virginia. This is the country, and history, that I saw on the way.
Mark and I went to high school with a girl from Tennessee. She had a strong drawl, which made her seem exotic. I wondered how close she lived to the rolling hills that I envisioned as the whole of her home State.
Cheri was busy at a quilting retreat; I took a short drive and ended up at a museum. Halifax County, Virginia is just across the border from North Carolina, about a two hour drive, if you take a direct route from where we live.
