The front of this building curved and full of glass to allow light in is inviting. Inside is a history lover’s dream. The Atlanta History Center: 33 acres of historic exhibits, houses, gardens and audio visual exhibits. I believe I could spend an entire week and not completely make it through everything I found interesting. I will have more than one post from this trip, and when in the area I will be returning. Today's post is just an overview of what I saw yesterday. The Museum has history from the earliest known Native American history to current events. I have a love of faded signs on the sides of buildings, often Coca-Cola signs. Since Coca-Cola has been around since 1886, some of the signs have been fading for quite some time. For a history geek the fact the City figured out a way to make a bicycle tag to try and prevent theft was wonderful to find. Engine 12, the Texas, was a central characters in one of the most unique episodes of the Civil War. On April 12, 1862, it was involved in an action called The Great Train Race. I will be doing an entire post on this at a later date. I love photography, and this early stereo camera is in exceptional condition. These photos were viewed through a special viewer and gave quite a good three-dimensional effect. The Bobby Jones exhibit was very well done. He was a sportsman on par in popularity with Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, you get the idea. The History Center has several films with footage of the amazing things he achieved. An early campaign poster, slightly simpler campaign strategies: This is a clue, as is the word "Cyclorama:"
