This will be a shortie, and virtually none of it original, but I know Monterey natives will appreciate it. When we lived in Pacific Grove, Sharon Randall lived two houses away from us. Since I don't like to intrude upon celebrities, I never introduced myself . . . unless saying "hi" when I took my niece to her place on Halloween counts. I've never understood why the Herald quit carrying her column, though I imagine it has something to do with syndication limitations.
In any case, she grew up in upper South Carolina, and our newspaper carries her column. Here is a link to her latest, which talks about the differences in weather between our areas, and how she prepares - physically and mentally - for impending wildfire season: journalnow.com/opinion/columnists/sharon-randall-prep-work-for-another-day-in-paradise/article_7391b3f2-eda0-11ec-ab58-27bfd328bc99.html.
